If you prefer, we can also deliver the casket to a residential address, such as your home, or to a storage facility.

Do funeral homes allow me to supply my own casket?

Yes, they do. The Funeral Rule, established by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), grants consumers the right to provide their own casket without any penalty. This means that:

Buying a casket online and arranging its delivery to your chosen funeral home for use in a funeral service is legal in all 50 states.
Funeral providers cannot refuse to use the casket you purchased online or impose unreasonable restrictions on its delivery or receipt.
Funeral directors are prohibited by federal law from charging additional fees, such as "casket-handling" fees, to customers who purchase their casket online.
Funeral homes cannot require you to purchase any goods or services that are not legally mandated. They are allowed to charge one non-declinable "basic" fee, but only one, and it should cover essential or required goods and services.
Funeral homes may not provide false or misleading information regarding funeral or cemetery laws, rules, or regulations. If you are told something is legally required, you have the right to request a copy of the law.
Deceptive practices, such as misrepresenting the quality of caskets purchased online or the likelihood of damages during transit, are also illegal. Most states have consumer protection laws in place to prevent such deceptive practices. State Licensing Boards in all 50 states have the authority to discipline Funeral Directors for dishonesty and misrepresentation, and federal law prohibits dishonest, deceptive, and unfair acts and practices.

Can I buy a casket now for pre-planning and have it delivered at the time of need (months or years later)?

Absolutely. You have the option to purchase a casket now to secure the price, ensure your wishes are known, and have it delivered at the time of need. Simply click the pre-plan button on any casket on Memoria and follow the checkout steps. We will provide you with a contract.

Do I need to be at the funeral home to receive a casket?

While it's generally advisable, you are not required to be present at the funeral home for delivery. The refusal of a funeral provider to use third-party merchandise until the consumer has inspected it may place an unreasonable burden on consumer choice, which violates Section 453.4(b)(1) of the FTC Funeral Rule. If you wish to be notified prior to delivery so you can be present, please contact us, and we will arrange for a notification.

For residential deliveries, the carrier will contact you to schedule an appointment time, and your presence will be necessary to accept the delivery.

What size casket do I need?

Our standard-size caskets have an interior width of 24 inches and can accommodate most adults up to 6'10" tall and 300 pounds in weight. However, we strongly recommend confirming the sizing with your funeral director or another professional who can assist you in determining the appropriate size for your loved one's casket.
Memoria also offers oversize caskets with exterior widths ranging from 28 to 44 inches.

Does the casket I ordered include everything I need, or do I need to purchase a pillow or throw separately?

Rest assured, all our caskets are delivered fully assembled and ready to receive your loved one. Each casket includes the necessary pillow, adjustable bed, and throw covers. You do not need to purchase anything else to prepare your loved one for their final resting place.
